Welfare at Wildcats

Good Polo For All.

Here at Wildcats, we recognise the importance of sport and exercise in maintaining both good physical and mental health. Canoe polo is a way of getting outside, moving our bodies, pushing ourselves, and finding a team of like-minded people to win, lose, travel, and play with.

We also recognise that for a lot of our members, because of these benefits, Wildcats is more than just a sports club - it’s a community. And it’s a community that we’re committed to making more inclusive, and welcoming.

We say our motto is good polo for all, and as a club, we understand that to achieve good polo on the water, we have to support our community off the water as well.

This work is ongoing, but here are just a few of the ways we’ve been doing that!

Support

A variety of socials throughout the year, from our formal Christmas Ball to bowling to club curries - organised by our Social Secretary

Partnership with leading men’s health charity, Movember - raising funds and awareness through our annual Movember Charity Tournament

A dedicated Welfare Secretary on committee, to support and signpost club members where needed

A clear and defined Code of Conduct, laying out what we expect from our members in terms of behaviour and attitude

Inclusion

We have weekly training sessions open to all, plus additional sessions specifically for our higher end players, creating space for all our members to develop

With four teams across three divisions of the National League, we cater to all abilities within the club

We have two Women’s teams, in Prem and Division 1, and dedicated fortnightly training sessions to encourage and champion women’s development in a male-dominated sport

A dedicated Women’s+ Rep sits on committee, representing the interests of our women’s teams and club members

There is free access to club kit for all members, on site at Cheadle, and maintained by our Kit Secretary

Wildcats Canoe Polo Club is committed to a zero tolerance policy on any discrimination, harassment or bullying regarding sexual conduct, race, sex, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, beliefs, and socio-economic background

If you experience any discrimination, harassment or bullying of any kind from any member of Wildcats, or witness/experience anything else that breaches the club Code of Conduct (detailed in our Constitution)- you can submit a complaint via our Discipline and Appeals form

The form asks for your details, and the details of the incident or issue. Complaints are solely monitored by the Welfare Secretary, and once received, they aim to respond within 7 days

You can find details of the Discipline and Appeals process in the Code of Conduct
