B Team Captain’s Preview 2023

After finishing a respectable 4th in Div 2N national league in 2022; our aim for this year is to build on the solid foundations from last season and place higher up the league table. Ideally looking to win the league and gain promotion to Div 1N in the next two years.

The season is off to a great start as we finished 3rd in Div 2 NW regional in March, just missing out on 2nd place by goal difference to Red Rose and drawing to the winning team (Pennine C) 1-1 in the final tournament of the league .

Throughout the three tournaments of the regional Div 2 NW league, the team defended solidly with only a few goals getting past the defence once set up. A few sloppy passes led to a punishing 6-1 loss against FOA D in tournament 2, but we soon made good on these errors with convincing wins against Penrith and Trentham in tournament 3.

Ahead of national league; team selection for Manchester Wildcats has shuffled with our B team introducing some new faces for national league in May.

Until then our training will be focusing around fine tuning the basics to ensure our shots and passes are accurate when it counts to hopefully gain us a space or two closer to the top this year.
