B Team 2022 Season Summary
Division: 2N
Final Placing: 4th
So, captain’s summary, National Div 2 North 2022 season.
What a year, after an extended break we’re all back playing competitive polo and not a moment too soon!
After protracted discussions a B team was selected, potentially the strongest B team ever created, dates were given out by British Canoe Polo, and tournaments planned… Then all the dates were changed at short notice , and the new dates were less well received. As a result, various personal clashes were noted with other family events/family weddings, and trips to Norway now clashing with polo fixtures, but hey Ho it is what it is!
3 tournaments later we ended up finishing a respectable 4th in the division, genuinely I think the best we could have achieved. 2 of the 3 tournaments we only arrived with 5, and the last one a ringer was flown in from Spain to bring us up to 5!
Hugely proud of how we played as a team right through the season, more training might have been appreciated but we did the best we could with what we had!
My high point was holding Dispersus [eventual runaway league winners] 2-0, much to their annoyance! My low point was drawing with Liverpool Brunswick when they scored from the half way line with the last throw of the match!
Overall, well done to all involved and let’s see what next year brings. I have nothing but huge pride this year!
